Tampa Bay Lightning Stars Cooper and Kucherov Win Major Awards

The Tampa Bay Lightning have made history as Jon Cooper and Nikita Kucherov both secured major NHL awards during the 2025-26 season. Jon Cooper won the Jack Adams Award for the league's top head coach, while Nikita Kucherov earned the Hart Memorial Trophy as the most valuable player. This marks only the second time in franchise history that both awards have been won by members of the Lightning organization in the same season. Kucherov's impressive performance, with 44 goals and 130 points in 76 games, played a significant role in the team's success. Previously, the Lightning achieved this feat during the 2003-04 season when John Tortorella and Martin St. Louis won the same honors. That season, the Lightning not only captured their first Stanley Cup but also showcased remarkable regular-season performance. While the current season saw the Lightning eliminated in the first round by the Montreal Canadiens, Cooper and Kucherov's accolades highlight their enduring impact on the franchise. With their past successes, including back-to-back Stanley Cups, the Lightning's future remains promising as they continue to build on their legacy.
